A duo of young contemporary drawing artists, Ambroise&Victor explore the theme of the bestiary in large formats in ink on paper.
With the monographic exhibition Intérieurs, presented from March 6 to October 5, 2025 in Labanque, Béthune: Ambroise&Victor decline their universe in a multitude of formats, with the desire to bring the drawing out of the space of the paper. Their exhibition thus offers various creations in volume: monumental mobiles, drawn plaster sculptures, painted automatons…
If the spectator is first seized by the gigantism and universalism of their animals, he is quickly surprised by a poetic and mysterious universe, where plants, minerals, natural or fantasized animals coexist and mingle. The duo draws its inspiration as much from bizarre naturalist works as from the meticulous observation of the environments that surround them. Taking the opposite view of a scientific approach that rationalizes our relationship with nature, their works take the viewer into sensitive and meditative worlds.
Each space on the first floor of LaBanque hosts a monumental animal drawing, inhabited by imaginary microcosms. These interior worlds are the starting point for new creations, produced for the exhibition, which thicken the reflection initiated by these large formats. If Indian ink remains their preferred medium, this exhibition is an opportunity to experiment with new forms of creation around color, light and volume.
The exhibition Intérieurs integrates a sound dimension entrusted to Thomas Vaquié, transforming the spaces of Labanque into real living ecosystems.
