in progress
Marseille the rebel! Marseille the alternative!
It's the music that's on the rise: Marseille is attracting more and more people, and enjoying a new lease of life.
The cultural effervescence at the heart of this singular metropolis seems to be taking place at the same time, perhaps even in a reciprocal fashion, as profound urban transformations. The genealogy and manifestations of these phenomena are of great interest to local players. But what's really at play is elsewhere: in Marseille, these transformations nourish and recompose a whole set of imaginaries, sometimes even myths, whose narrative power often exceeds the power to act.
This is what author François Déalle-Faquez and illustrator Émilie Seto for Sur-Mesure have sought out in Marseille / Éclatés. Une ville transformée par ses imaginaires, available from February: the dialogue that takes place between the permanence of stories and the emergence of new images.
Marseille / Éclatés. Une ville transformée par ses imaginaires takes an original look at the city of Marseille and the imaginations it produces, through 12 unique colorful illustrations and 11 previously unpublished testimonials from well-known figures in Marseille's cultural life: Anthony Micallef, Anne Le Batard, Vincent Tuset-Anrès, Manyoly, Katharina Bellan, Élise Linares, Alban Corbier-Labasse, Émilie Seto, Jérémie Morjane, Geoffroy Mathieu and Dalila Ladjal.
